Meet the Doers – of social enterprise in our valley. The Center for Community Transformation will host a series of three opportunities to meet social entrepreneurs at Fresno Pacific University campus.
The Haitian Bead Party
The CCT welcomes Gina Wathen who will represent the Haitian Bead Project and bring a bead party to FPU on Thursday, February 8 from 12:40 p.m. – 1:40 p.m. Make your own beads and learn about Haitian artisans whose handmade products support families and orphanages in Haiti. The HBP hires 70 Haitian women, providing a source of income through sales. Come participate in this fun event. All proceeds go to supporting these Haitian Artisans. The bead party will be at the Steinert Campus Center Lounge.
Paint Night
Sign up with for an evening of fun! Join us on Wednesday evening, March 14 at 6 p.m. at Fresno Biblical Seminary’s B.C. Lounge and learn how CCT Spark Tank award winner Michelle Stevens supports veterans through art therapy with her social enterprise, Coat of Many Colors. Whether you’re the next Picasso or struggle to paint inside the lines, you’ll walk away with a beautiful piece of art you are proud of. Registration required by March 8: cct-paint-night.
La Cocina: Elote Cooking Demo
Here’s a chance to learn how an entrepreneur is making a difference for his community through grilling corn. CCT Spark Tank Award winner Adrian Alvarado joins us on Thursday, April 19 at 12:40 p.m. Come enjoy a fun demonstration and taste the delectable elotes. Follow your nose and the wonderful aroma of grilled corn to the Steinert Campus Center room 103.
