Bringing the Story to Life: Theater Tools for Children’s Ministry
Children learn through imagination, expression, and story. In this interactive workshop, children’s ministry leaders will explore practical theater tools such as storytelling, stage presence, emotional expression, narrative sermons, and puppetry to bring biblical stories to life. Participants will also learn how to turn a story into a simple play and involve children in the creative process.
No theater experience required!

Jason is the founding pastor of Action Community Church and has been in full-time pastoral ministry for 25 years. He has seven years of experience as a children’s pastor and has served as a speaker and camp director for kids’ camps for the last 15 years. His background in theater has greatly influenced the methods he employs in delivering his sermons, developing ministries, and missional outreach. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Christian Leadership from Vanguard University and a master’s in Intercultural Studies and Leadership from Fuller Theological Seminary.

Launa is the associate pastor at Action Community Church and oversees Action Community Theater. Her love for theater began in the church when she was young and continues to this day. She has worked in all areas of theater, including acting, dancing, singing, writing, directing, choreography, lighting design, stage management, props, costumes, and make-up. She’s passionate about raising the quality of the arts in the church as an effective tool for sharing the gospel. She has a master’s degree in Community Leadership and Transformation from Fresno Pacific Biblical Seminary.
