Spotlight on Ministry Partner: Fresno Area Community Enterprises

FACE is a faith based 501(c)(3) resource and training center for families, churches, agencies and businesses that are collaborating for community transformation through a holistic approach of caring, resourcing and developing, especially in the Robinson Neighborhood. They recently added their third social enterprise, MCC Thrift on Blackstone, and are excited for the ways it is employing women from the neighborhood. The CCT was able to encourage and resource the launching of that business and the church’s other two business (Rock Pile Landscaping and Moving On Up moving company) through the Spark Tank Pitch Fest and Social Enterprise Academy, which provided seed money as well as key training in best practices of using business to solve social problems and accomplish ministry objectives. They have seen a direct connection between the CCT’s work and their ability to carry out their mission, as well as in the fruit of transformation in people’s lives.  For example, Rogelio, was an ex-gang member and formerly incarcerated who came to interact with FACE when he was living in his broken-down car with his three young boys. After being incarcerated for nearly a year, Roy came to a crossroad in his life and decided to turn his life around and seek help. FACE provided him with a bike, food, clothes, and some side jobs for him to make ends meet, and finally employed him in Moving On Up, a social enterprise of FACE. He’s found additional work as well, and is immersing himself in all of the nurturing ministries of North Fresno Church. His boys are now engaged in church as well at every level. Rogelio plans to get married this summer! And this year his oldest child is getting his first job with Moving On Up! God is making all things new, through the organizations that the CCT resources.
